Yes. Both formats keep every sample, so decoding the FLAC returns a bit-identical copy of the audio inside the WAV. Nothing is quantised, nothing is discarded, and the conversion can be repeated indefinitely without accumulating artefacts. What changes is the file size and which software will open it.
Can I tag the FLAC with artist and album information?

Yes, and it is a genuine gain over WAV, which has nowhere dependable to store any of it. FLAC carries title, artist, album, year, track number and embedded cover art in the container itself, so a music library files it correctly without a manual pass. Will the FLAC play in my car or on older hardware?

Often not. WAV is decoded by essentially everything, including car head units and elderly players; FLAC needs software that knows the codec, which standalone hardware frequently does not have. If the destination is a car stereo or a portable player, that is a strong argument for staying on WAV. FLAC is still several times larger than a good lossy file, and Apple’s ecosystem only added support recently and grudgingly.
Will a long WAV recording upload successfully?

Free accounts cap at 100 MB per file, and WAV runs to roughly 10 MB per minute in stereo because nothing about it is compressed — every sample is stored at full width. Ten minutes is already at the limit. Premium lifts the cap considerably, and the format has its own 4 GB ceiling above that, which is why long sessions arrive split into numbered parts; upload them together and they are treated as one job. WAV is enormous — roughly 10 MB per stereo minute at CD quality — and the classic format has a 4 GB ceiling and no room for proper tags.
What bitrate does the FLAC file end up at?

Will going from WAV to FLAC actually reduce my audio quality?
