Does PNG to PSD conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when PSD is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background — if you need transparency, pick a transparency-aware target instead of PSD. PSD is Adobe Photoshop’s native document, and it is a working file rather than a delivery format.

What happens to EXIF metadata when converting PNG to PSD?

In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the PSD. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.

Can I batch-convert hundreds of PNG files to PSD at once?

Are my PNG files private during conversion?

Why is my converted PSD file bigger or smaller than expected?

A PNG file with strong compression (heavily lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded into a lossless PSD (PNG, TIFF), and a high-bitrate lossless PNG often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG/WebP. The ratio depends on the image content (photos compress differently from line-art or screenshots). PNG is a poor photograph format: a photo saved as PNG is routinely five to ten times larger than the same image as JPG or WebP. PSD is huge, opens properly in almost nothing outside Adobe, and has to be flattened before anyone can view or print it.

Can I use the converted PSD file commercially?

Yes. The conversion is a format change — copyright on the image content stays with whoever held it on the source PNG. We add no watermark, no metadata stamp, and claim no licence over the PSD output.
