Does GIF to TIFF conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when TIFF is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background — if you need transparency, pick a transparency-aware target instead of TIFF. TIFF is the Tagged Image File Format from 1986, and it is the format scanning, publishing and archiving industries standardised on.
My GIF is animated — what happens to the other frames?

Only the first frame survives, because TIFF is a still format with nowhere to store the rest. If the animation matters, target a format that animates, or convert to a video container instead and keep the motion. TIFF’s flexibility is its weakness — two TIFFs can be structured so differently that software reading one fails on the other — and files are large.
What happens to EXIF metadata when converting GIF to TIFF?

In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the TIFF. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Can I batch-convert hundreds of GIF files to TIFF at once?

Are my GIF files private during conversion?

Why is my converted TIFF file bigger or smaller than expected?

A GIF file with strong compression (heavily lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded into a lossless TIFF (PNG, TIFF), and a high-bitrate lossless GIF often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG/WebP. The ratio depends on the image content (photos compress differently from line-art or screenshots). GIF’s 256-colour ceiling wrecks gradients and video stills, and its file sizes for animation are an order of magnitude worse than WebP or MP4.
