AIFF to WebM Conversion FAQ
Is the AIFF to WebM converter free?
+
Yes. One conversion an hour is free, with no account needed, for a file within the free size limit. A paid plan removes the hourly limit and the size limit, and lets you add several files to one job.
My AIFF is lossless — does putting it in a WebM throw that away?
+
It usually does, because video containers expect a compressed audio track and most players will not accept raw PCM inside one. The audio is encoded once, at a high bitrate so the loss is inaudible, and the lossless AIFF stays untouched on your side. Keep it: it remains the master, and the WebM is a delivery copy. AIFF is the studio interchange format on macOS, handles metadata better than plain WAV, and imports into Logic and Pro Tools instantly.
Will the WebM open directly in a browser?
+
Yes, and the AIFF would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for WebM and none for AIFF, so an AIFF link forces a download while a WebM renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. WebM plays natively in every modern browser with no plugin, no licence fee and no patent exposure, which makes it the default for web-embedded video.
How big an AIFF file can I convert to WebM?
+
Free conversions have a size limit per file, set by the type of file, and the page tells you when a file is over it. A paid plan removes that limit, so much larger files can be converted.
Can I convert many AIFF files to WebM at once?
+
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Does the AIFF to WebM converter work on phones / tablets?
+
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end without an app.
Which browsers does the AIFF to WebM converter support?
+
Chrome, Firefox, Safari (15+), Edge, and Opera. The converter uses a plain `<input type="file">` upload — no WebAssembly or PWA dependencies — so even older browsers convert AIFF to WebM successfully.
Are my AIFF files kept private?
+
Yes. Uploaded AIFF files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted WebM are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
What if the WebM download does not start automatically?
+
Disable any pop-up blocker, then click the download button manually. The result link stays active for 24 hours, so if your network fails mid-download you can re-trigger from the result page without re-uploading the AIFF.
How long does AIFF to WebM conversion take?
+
It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame. WebM is a poor fit anywhere outside a browser — video editors, phones’ native galleries and Smart TVs largely ignore it.
