Does JPEG to JPG conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when JPG is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background — if you need transparency, pick a transparency-aware target instead of JPG. JPG is the JPEG standard from 1992, served under the .jpg, .jpeg and .jfif extensions alike, and after three decades it is still the format most cameras and most websites use for photographs.
What happens to EXIF metadata when converting JPEG to JPG?

In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the JPG. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Can I batch-convert hundreds of JPEG files to JPG at once?

Are my JPEG files private during conversion?

Why is my converted JPG file bigger or smaller than expected?

A JPEG file with strong compression (heavily lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded into a lossless JPG (PNG, TIFF), and a high-bitrate lossless JPEG often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG/WebP. The ratio depends on the image content (photos compress differently from line-art or screenshots). JPEG shares every JPG limitation — no alpha, generational loss on re-save — with the added nuisance of software that treats the two extensions differently. JPG has no transparency, degrades further every time it is re-saved, and produces visible blocking on flat colour and sharp text.
Can I use the converted JPG file commercially?

Yes. The conversion is a format change — copyright on the image content stays with whoever held it on the source JPEG. We add no watermark, no metadata stamp, and claim no licence over the JPG output.
