How do I convert FLAC audio to MP3 without losing quality?

Upload the FLAC file and the converter chooses the MP3 codec / bitrate combination that matches the source profile. Lossless MP3 (WAV / FLAC / ALAC) preserves every sample exactly; lossy MP3 (MP3 / AAC / OGG / Opus) defaults to 192 kbps which is transparent for almost all music content. FLAC uses linear prediction plus Rice coding to reach roughly 50-60% of the original size while decoding back to bit-identical PCM. MP3 is lossy: a psychoacoustic model discards frequencies the ear is unlikely to notice, typically at 128 to 320 kbps.
Some, and it is permanent — this is the one direction where information is genuinely thrown away. FLAC holds every sample exactly; MP3 discards what a psychoacoustic model predicts you will not hear. At 192 kbps and above that prediction is good enough to be transparent on most material and most equipment. Keep the FLAC as your master, because you cannot get back to it from the MP3.
It is folded down to stereo, because MP3 has no practical multichannel mode. The downmix uses the standard coefficients so centre-channel dialogue stays clear and the surrounds are mixed in at reduced level. Anything that depended on discrete channel placement is gone once that happens. MP3 is technically outclassed by AAC and Opus at every bitrate, cannot store more than two channels usefully, and always adds a small encoder delay.
Default 192 kbps for lossy MP3; pass-through for lossless MP3. Override to 320 kbps if you want maximum lossy fidelity, 128 kbps for size-constrained podcast distribution, or 96 kbps for voice-only sources where the smaller file matters more than studio detail.
If FLAC is lossy (MP3, AAC) and MP3 is lossless (WAV, FLAC), the MP3 is no better than the FLAC — you cannot recover information already discarded by the lossy FLAC codec. If FLAC is lossless and MP3 is lossy, expect the MP3 encoder to recompress; at 192 kbps the loss is imperceptible to most ears.
Yes — title, artist, album, year, track number, album art, BPM, replay-gain are read from the FLAC container and written into the equivalent fields on the MP3 container. ID3v2 (MP3), Vorbis comments (OGG, FLAC), MP4 atoms (AAC, M4A), RIFF INFO (WAV), iXML chunks all map cleanly. MP3 is MPEG-1 Audio Layer III, finalised in 1993, and still the most universally decodable audio format that exists.
