EPUB to DOCX Conversion FAQ
How do I convert an EPUB file to DOCX?
+
Upload your EPUB file using the picker above and the converter detects the source type and runs the EPUB -> DOCX pipeline. The result downloads automatically when conversion completes; no account is needed for one-off conversions. EPUB is the open ebook standard from the International Digital Publishing Forum, now maintained by the W3C. DOCX is Office Open XML, the format Word has produced by default since 2007 and an ISO standard since 2008.
Will the DOCX be properly editable?
+
Yes — that is the point of converting out of EPUB. The output opens as a real document with live paragraphs, styles and tables rather than a frozen page image, so you can edit it directly instead of retyping. Heavily designed source layouts convert less cleanly than plain prose, so expect to tidy spacing on anything built on a complex grid. DOCX is inspectable, diffable and readable by Google Docs, LibreOffice, Pages and every modern word processor.
Will the converted book keep its cover, chapters and table of contents?
+
Yes where both formats can express them. Cover art, chapter divisions and a navigable table of contents are structural metadata, so they carry across rather than being flattened into the text. Footnotes and index entries are the fragile parts — they degrade into inline text on targets with no anchor mechanism.
Why does my EPUB file refuse to convert?
+
DRM, in almost every case. A protected EPUB is encrypted and tied to an account, and no converter can decrypt it — ours included. Files you created yourself, or bought from a DRM-free store, convert without any trouble at all. EPUB has no fixed pagination, so page numbers are meaningless, and complex layout — tables, equations, multi-column — degrades badly.
Is the EPUB to DOCX converter free?
+
Yes — basic EPUB -> DOCX conversion is free with no registration. Premium adds higher per-file size limits, more parallel batch workers, and removes ads.
How big an EPUB file can I convert to DOCX?
+
Free accounts: up to 100 MB per EPUB file. Premium: typically 1 GB per file, depending on the EPUB source type. Very large files get split into chunks server-side when the DOCX format permits.
Will conversion change the content of my EPUB?
+
Conversion preserves every piece of information that both EPUB and DOCX can represent. Features the DOCX format cannot store (vector data in raster output, formulas in plain-text output, embedded fonts in image output) are rasterized or stripped — the result page flags any feature loss explicitly. An EPUB is a ZIP archive of XHTML and CSS with a manifest — essentially a small website packaged as a book. A DOCX is a ZIP archive of XML parts — document body, styles, numbering, relationships — plus the media files it references.
Can I convert many EPUB files to DOCX at once?
+
Yes — drop multiple EPUB files into the upload zone and they queue in parallel. Premium has more parallel workers; on a 50-file batch this is the difference between minutes and seconds.
Does the EPUB to DOCX converter work on phones / tablets?
+
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end without an app.
Which browsers does the EPUB to DOCX converter support?
+
Chrome, Firefox, Safari (15+), Edge, and Opera. The converter uses a plain `<input type="file">` upload — no WebAssembly or PWA dependencies — so even older browsers convert EPUB to DOCX successfully.
Are my EPUB files kept private?
+
Yes — uploaded EPUB files are processed in isolated workers and deleted within minutes. We never view, retain, or share content. See /privacy/ for the data-retention window. EPUB reflows text to any screen size and any font size, which is what makes it readable on a phone as well as an e-reader.
What if the DOCX download does not start automatically?
+
Disable any pop-up blocker, then click the download button manually. The result link stays active for 24 hours, so if your network fails mid-download you can re-trigger from the result page without re-uploading the EPUB.
