Plain text is the most durable format there is: it will still be readable when every proprietary format of this decade is unopenable.
Why would I use RTF rather than a modern document format?

Because it opens in essentially everything, including software from the early nineties, and because it is plain readable text underneath so it survives systems that mangle binary attachments. The trade is size and features: an RTF is several times larger than the equivalent XML package and cannot carry tracked changes, comments or complex tables.
How big an RTF file can I convert to TXT?

How long does RTF to TXT conversion take?

It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame.
