Split Word Document FAQ
What is the Split Word tool?
+
This free online tool separates a Word document into multiple files. Extract specific pages or split by sections.
How can I split the document?
+
There is nothing to set: the document is split at its page breaks, or before each Heading 1 when it has none.
What format are the output files?
+
Output files are individual Word documents (.docx), each listed as its own download. A paid plan adds one ZIP download with all of them.
Will splitting affect formatting?
+
Each split document maintains the original formatting and styles.
Is there a page limit?
+
Free users can split documents up to 100 pages. Premium users have higher limits.
Can I convert a number of files at once
+
Yes. Free conversions handle one file at a time (merge tools accept two), while Pro unlocks batch processing of multiple files at once.
Does it work on mobile endpoints
+
Yes, our converter is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. You can convert files on iOS, Android, and any other mobile platform with a modern browser.
Which browsers are covered
+
Our converter works with all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. We recommend keeping your browser updated for the best operation.
Are my files kept private and confidential
+
Uploaded files are processed on our own conversion servers, nobody looks at them, and they are not shared. The upload and the converted file are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
What if my fetch doesn't start
+
If your fetch doesn't start hands-free, try clicking the download button again. Make sure pop-ups are not blocked, and check your browser's download folder. You can also right-click the download link and check 'Save As'.
Will the standard be preserved
+
It depends on the formats. A lossless target such as PNG, WAV or FLAC keeps what the source holds; a lossy target such as JPG, MP3 or MP4 is usually re-encoded, which trades some detail for a smaller file.
Do I need to create an login
+
No account is required for basic usage. You can process files immediately. Creating a free account gives you access to your conversion history and additional features.
