How do I convert PSD to PDF for sharing or printing?

Upload the PSD file and the converter renders it onto PDF pages with sensible defaults: A4 / letter size, 1-inch margins, embedded fonts. Multi-page sources (DOCX, EPUB, XLSX) preserve their natural page breaks; single-asset sources (images) get one page each, auto-fit to the page. PSD is Adobe Photoshop’s native document, and it is a working file rather than a delivery format. PDF is Adobe’s Portable Document Format from 1993, standardised as ISO 32000 and now the universal fixed-layout document.

What if the source is a scan with no real text in it?

Then the conversion produces a picture of the text rather than the text itself, and searching it finds nothing. Run /pdf-ocr/ to add a recognised text layer first; optical character recognition turns the scanned pixels into selectable, searchable characters that the conversion can then carry through properly.

Will the PDF open directly in a browser?

Yes, and the PSD would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for PDF and none for PSD, so a PSD link forces a download while a PDF renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. A PDF looks byte-for-byte identical on every machine and every printer, which is why contracts, invoices and academic papers all live in it.

What happens to transparent areas of my PSD in the PDF?

They are composited against the page, which is white by default, so a transparent background becomes a white one. If the image is meant to sit on a coloured page, set the matte colour before converting rather than trying to fix it afterwards in the document.

Is the PDF side of this conversion searchable?

It depends entirely on whether real text is present. A PDF generated from a document carries an actual text layer and is searchable; a PDF built from scans or images is a picture of text and is not, until OCR adds a layer. /pdf-ocr/ does that, and it is worth running before any conversion that expects to read the words.

Will the PSD to PDF conversion keep my fonts and formatting?

Yes for text-bearing PSD (DOCX, ODT, HTML, TXT) — fonts are embedded into the PDF so the output looks identical on every viewer. Image-only PSD (JPG, PNG) just centres the image on the page; layout is N/A.

Can I merge multiple PSD files into one PDF?

Yes — drop multiple PSD files into the upload zone and choose the "merge into one PDF" option. They appear as sequential pages in the PDF in upload order; drag-to-reorder is supported before conversion. Useful for stitching a folder of scans into a single archival PDF.

What page size and orientation does the PDF use?

Defaults: A4 portrait (international) or letter portrait (US). The advanced options expose page-size (A3, A4, A5, letter, legal, tabloid, custom) and orientation (portrait / landscape). For image PSD, the "auto-fit" choice picks orientation to match the source aspect ratio.

Will hyperlinks in my PSD survive the PDF conversion?

Yes for PSD formats that carry real hyperlink metadata (DOCX, ODT, HTML, EPUB). Image-based PSD (JPG, PNG, TIFF) have no hyperlinks to preserve. The PDF file uses the standard PDF anchor model so links work in every reader (Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, Edge).

Is the PDF searchable with selectable text?

Yes when the PSD contains real text layers (DOCX, ODT, HTML, TXT, EPUB). Image-based PSD produces an image-only PDF — to make it searchable, follow up with /pdf-ocr/ to run optical character recognition over the page bundle. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements.

Can I password-protect the PDF after conversion?

Not in this same step — convert PSD to PDF first, then use /pdf-protect/ to add an open password, owner password, or print / edit restrictions. Splitting the steps lets each conversion stay focused and fast.

How big will the PDF file be?

Depends on the PSD. A 10-page DOCX with embedded fonts produces a 200-400 KB PDF. A 10-image JPG batch at full resolution produces a 5-20 MB PDF. The advanced "compress images in PDF" toggle re-encodes embedded images at JPG quality-85 to shrink the PDF aggressively.
