Is the PDF searchable with selectable text?

Yes when the Word contains real text layers (DOCX, ODT, HTML, TXT, EPUB). Image-based Word produces an image-only PDF — to make it searchable, follow up with /pdf-ocr/ to run optical character recognition over the page bundle. Output defaults to DOCX — the Office Open XML package — because it is the format current Word versions read without a compatibility warning.
Will the text still reflow to my screen after converting Word to PDF?

No — this conversion pins the layout. A Word adapts its line breaks to whatever width and font size the reader is using; the PDF fixes page geometry at conversion time, so on a phone you get the whole page scaled down rather than text rewrapped to the screen. That is the right trade when the layout must not move, and the wrong one when the file is for reading on a small device. A Word document is the expected deliverable anywhere a human will edit the text afterwards, from academic submissions to corporate reports. PDF is Adobe’s Portable Document Format from 1993, standardised as ISO 32000 and now the universal fixed-layout document.
Can I still edit the content after converting Word to PDF?

Not the way you edit the Word. The PDF is a delivery format: it fixes the layout so it renders identically everywhere, which is exactly why it resists editing. Keep the Word as the working copy and regenerate the PDF whenever the content changes — round-tripping back out of PDF always loses something.
Will the PDF open directly in a browser?

Yes, and the Word would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for PDF and none for Word, so a Word link forces a download while a PDF renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. A PDF looks byte-for-byte identical on every machine and every printer, which is why contracts, invoices and academic papers all live in it.
Can I password-protect the PDF after conversion?

Not in this same step — convert Word to PDF first, then use /pdf-protect/ to add an open password, owner password, or print / edit restrictions. Splitting the steps lets each conversion stay focused and fast.
Is my Word private during PDF conversion?

Yes. Uploaded Word files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PDF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
