Is the PDF searchable with selectable text?

Yes when the PowerPoint contains real text layers (DOCX, ODT, HTML, TXT, EPUB). Image-based PowerPoint produces an image-only PDF — to make it searchable, follow up with /pdf-ocr/ to run optical character recognition over the page bundle. Output defaults to PPTX — the Office Open XML package — with one XML part per slide plus the referenced media.
Can I still edit the content after converting PowerPoint to PDF?

Not the way you edit the PowerPoint. The PDF is a delivery format: it fixes the layout so it renders identically everywhere, which is exactly why it resists editing. Keep the PowerPoint as the working copy and regenerate the PDF whenever the content changes — round-tripping back out of PDF always loses something. PDF is Adobe’s Portable Document Format from 1993, standardised as ISO 32000 and now the universal fixed-layout document.
Will the PDF open directly in a browser?

Yes, and the PowerPoint would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for PDF and none for PowerPoint, so a PowerPoint link forces a download while a PDF renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. A PDF looks byte-for-byte identical on every machine and every printer, which is why contracts, invoices and academic papers all live in it.
Can I password-protect the PDF after conversion?

Not in this same step — convert PowerPoint to PDF first, then use /pdf-protect/ to add an open password, owner password, or print / edit restrictions. Splitting the steps lets each conversion stay focused and fast.
Is my PowerPoint private during PDF conversion?

Yes. Uploaded PowerPoint files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PDF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
